State Park Overview
In the Tennessee Valley, overlooking the majestic 69,000-acre Guntersville Reservoir, this park ranges over 6,000 acres of natural woodlands. The park has an 18-hole championship golf course - beach complex, fishing center, hiking trails, nature programs and a day-use area. Modern campground and lakeview cottages on the lake, coupled with a resort lodge on the pinnacle of Taylor Mountain and
chalets on the ridge-tops provide a selection of overnight accommodations beyond comparison.
Looking for a place to have a meeting? Lake Guntersville Resort State Park provides a massive resort inn, restaurant and convention complex (currently under renovation) perfect for your associations next state or regional meeting. It has meeting facilities large enough to accommodate a banquet or opening session -long with smaller breakout rooms. The magnificent view of Lake Guntersville from atop Taylor Mountain will provide an experience not soon to be forgotten. This park ranks as a total recreational resort.
Camping
Situated within the pine studded woodlands and adjacent to the reservoir shoreline are 321 improved campsites blending with the serenity of nature. Ranging from the primitive to the modern, complete with utilities, the sites vary to suit nearly every taste. Various campground conveniences include utility connections, tables, grills, bathhouses, hot showers - country store and
play areas.
Located on the campground is a Nature Center with a Naturalist on duty to provide interesting programs.
Sunbathers and water enthusiasts will enjoy the beach complex with Beach Pavilion adjacent to the campground.
Picnicking
Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Gunterville, the beach pavilion at Lake Guntersville State Park is a wonderful place to have a wedding, your next family reunion, company picnic, birthday party or other special event.
Sunbathers and water enthusiasts will enjoy the beach complex with Beach Pavilion adjacent to the campground.
Beach Pavilion Rental $100.00 per 4 hours, per 100 people $25.00 per additional hour/ 100 people.
Boating
Town Creek Fishing Center is located on Guntersville Lake - the mouth of Town Creek on Alabama Hwy 227. Fishing services offered include a boat ramp, flat bottom boat and canoe rentals, gas pump on the water, fishing pier, fishing license, fishing tackle, supplies and artificial bait -s well as drinks and refreshments.
The Fishing Center is closed from mid-ovember to mid-March each year.

By land the park is only six miles northeast of Guntersville on Highway 227. Guntersville may be entered via highways 431, 79 and 69.
From Birmingham, take I-59 N to Hwy 431 in Attalla. Follow Hwy 431 to Guntersville. Once in Guntersville, turn right onto Hwy 227 N and follow it straight to the park.
From Atlanta, take I-20 W to Hwy 431 in Anniston. Take Hwy 431 N to Gunterville and turn right on Hwy227 N straight out to the park.
From Huntsville, take Hwy 431 S to Guntersville, turn left on Hwy 227 N to the park.
