Camping
Gulf State Parks reopened renovated campsites now number 154. These sites have 50 amp service, water and sewer hook-ups. All camping pads are freshly paved with larger lots for RVs with pullouts.
Please Note The campground is taking reservations on a limited basis at this time. Major renovations are underway due to flooding caused by Hurricane Ivan and it is not back up to full capacity.
Trails
Enjoy the beauty of nature and the gifts that it offers on the lovely trails of Gulf State Park. Delightful plants and animals await your discovery. Walk along these trails -s Creek Indians probably did many years ago, with respect and appreciation of Mother Nature?s bounty.
Please remember that Alabama State Parks preserve land for the benefit of present and future generations. You can participate in this preservation effort by remembering that all plants and animals are protected in each Alabama State Park. Please leave all plants and animals undisturbed for others to enjoy.
Each of the trails in Gulf State Park is unique. All of the trails are level and easy to explore. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and clothing and to utilize the morning and late afternoon hours for summer hiking because of the heat.
Fishing and Hunting

Our lakes, rivers and streams are home to a variety of bass, bream, crappie, catfish, walleye and rainbow trout to name a few! At our Gulf State Resort, the saltwater angler will find excitement in landing the big one from our own pier or surfishing right from the beach. Everything from king mackerel -mberjack, cobia, flounder, bluefish, tuna and more. Many of our parks offer full marina services, including boat rentals, bait & tackle, snacks and cold drinks. Regardless of the type of fishing you may choose, please be sure to check state licensing regulations and creel limits. For the more competitive anglers, several of our Alabama State Parks play host to a number of tournaments through out the year and we welcome you and your family to join us.
Please NoteThe 825 ft. fishing pier on the Gulf of Mexico was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan but plans are progressing to construct a new pier. Also, Lake Shelby and the picnic area remain closed due to damage from Hurricane Ivan.
