State Park Overview
Stretching along the shores of beautiful 500-acre Lake Jackson, this compact 40-acre park offers swimming, paddleboat rentals, fishing and picnicking -s well as a complete community building and a modern lakeside campground. Located on the Alabama/Florida line, this park has the perfect climate for campers seeking to avoid those harsh winter months up north.

The day use area includes a bicycle / pedestrian trail that runs the entire length of the park from the campground to the City Wetlands Park and to the Old Depot -pproximately 1.4 miles in length. Swimming, fishing, wave runners and skiing are allowed in the lake - picnic area and a 200 ? foot pier are also located in day use area. Pedal boats are available for rental during the spring and summer. Two meeting rooms are available for rent that can accommodate 50 ? 75 people included is a kitchen with stove, refrigerator and microwave.


Camping
Florala State Park Campground has 23 campsites with 30 amp electrical service, water and sewage hook-up. Each site has a picnic table and grill. Located in the campground is a modern bathhouse with coin operated laundry facilities. A large pavilion is available for campers and can be used on a first come first serve basis. A boat launch is located in the campground area for park visitor convenience.

Area Attractions
The Worlds oldest Masonic Celebration is held in the City of Florala. The weeklong event takes place the last full week in June referred to by locals as the June 24th celebration. Events includes a bass tournament, horse shoe tournament, beauty contest, gospel sing, Sock hop dance, street dance, 5 k alligator trot - parade - antique car show, games for the children - carnival - old time heritage demonstration, fireworks and arts and crafts in the park. With in the quaint little City of Florala, one will find many antique shops, Several Victorian Style Mansions, two art galleries - Bed and Breakfast for overnight lodging accommodations - large family style buffet and restaurant that specialize in Southern style family cooking. Within the Tri-City area -cross the State line one can see the highest point of Florida at 345 feet above sea level. Other activities in the Covington County area are the Worlds Domino Tournament held in Andalusia Alabama. The domino tournament takes place during the month of July. Florala State Park is located in Covington County, within the city limits of Florala Alabama - Southern gateway into Alabama and less than 50 miles from the Gulf Coast Beaches. The Park is located on Lake Jackson?s 500-acre natural spring fed lake. It has been said that Lake Jackson is the largest and cleanest natural spring fed lake in Alabama.

DIRECTIONS TO FLORALA STATE PARK

From Montgomery at the intersection of I-85 and I-65The following route will take you - Frank Jackson State Park and through Opp Alabama.

From I-65, Exit on the Southern Bypass, turn left.

Approximately ? mile turn right on highway 331

100 miles to Florala

Turn right on highway 55 (in front of Tom Thumb Store)

Turn left on Lakeshore Blvd. (in front of the Huddle House Restaurant)

From Montgomery at the intersection of I-85 and I-65The following alternate route will take you through Andalusia Alabama

Continue on Interstate I-65 to the Georgia exit. #114

Travel East about 3 miles on State Highway 106

Turn South on US Highway 31 Approximately 10 miles to McKenzie -L the road number changes to 55. Continue on 55 to Andalusia.

From Andalusia, travel South on highway 55 approximately 25 miles to Florala.

Highway 55 turns to the right in front of the Tom Thumb Store, (Turn right)

Turn left on Lakeshore Blvd. (in front of the Huddle House Restaurant)

From I20 Mobile / Pensacola

From Interstate I20, exit onto Florida Highway 85 at the Crestview Florida exit. Travel approximately 30 miles through Laurel Hill and Clear Springs Florida, once you enter Alabama, the Road number changes from Florida 85 to Alabama 55.

Turn right in front of the Huddle House.

From Interstate I20 (Tallahassee)

From Interstate I20, exit onto US Highway 331 at DeFuniak Springs Florida exit.

Follow US Highway 331 North through Paxton Florida and into Florala -l. Approximately 30 miles.

Follow to Alabama Highway 55. Turn left at the Tom Thumb Store

Turn left on Lakeshore Blvd. (in front of the Huddle House Restaurant)
