Camp Creek State Forest
State Park Information
State Park Overview
Consisting of nearly 5,300 acres of forest land this property is managed to demonstrate sound forest management principles through the concept of multiple-use. A hunter will find many species of game including deer, native wild turkey, ruffed grouse and a variety of small game. Camp Creek, from which these areas take their name, is one of the best stocked trout streams in the state and can offer hours of fishing enjoyment.
The park is situated just two miles off Interstate 77 at exit 20, Camp Creek State Park is an oasis for the vacationer. Whether you choose the park as a vacation site or a stop over on the way to another destination, rest assured you will find exactly what you are looking for. Surrounded by the breathtaking mountains of southern West Virginia, Camp Creek offers a chance to enjoy what state parks are all about.
Camping
Three separate campgrounds provide the variety campers enjoy.
Mash Fork Campground
This campground contains 26 trailer/tent sites with electrical hookup - heated bathhouse and two accessible sites. Camping units may be filled from water pumps before pulling onto sites. Picnic tables, grills and fire rings are at all campsites.
Rates $19.00 per night.
Blue Jay Campground
This campground consists of 14 rustic tent sites. Amenities include pit toilets, water fountain, picnic tables, grills and
fire rings.
Rates $11.00 per night10% Senior discount from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Firewood and ice are available for purchase. A coin laundry is available for your use.
A new gift shop is located in the park office and one is also located at the check-in building of Mash Fork campground.
Double CHorse and Rider Campground
A new camping option is available for horseback riders and their horse this year. ?Double C? Campground features access to approximately 35 miles of horseback trails. There are two, four and
six horse occupancy sites available in this area. Campers may only bring the number of horses in which their campsite stalls can accommodate.
Rates $21.00 per night for up to two horses and $5 additonal per horse per night.
This campground is by reservation only and offers vault toilets, fire rings and picnic tables. Showers are available for use at the Mash Fork Camping area.
Trails
Horseback Riding
3540 miles of trails in the adjacent State Forest to ride. We have added horseback camp sites, visit the camping page for more details.
Picnicking
Many picnic areas are provided for guests. From groups of two to 200, facilities are available to accomodate any size of group. Picnic areas all contain tables, fireplaces or grills, restroom facilites and drinking water.
Five picnic shelters are available for advance rental. Rentals are based on a first-come, first-served basis and can be rented the first day of each month for the following year.Rate $65.00 per day.
For reservations, please contact the park during offices hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays or 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day weekend only.
Playgrounds
Playground equipment is located in each campground and - the picnic areas.
Games Courts
A regulation basketball court, volleyball courts and
badminton courts are available. There are also shuffleboards and horseshoe areas throughout the park.
